The second impeachment trial of Donald Trump may be the last chance for the Democrats to finally recognize that the clear and present danger to American democracy and the rule of law is not Donald Trump but the Republican Party under the sway of Trumpism.
We can all hope that this “Partial Restoration” period can be accelerated by Senate wins in Georgia, and that it will last for more than the two years between now and mid term elections but anything more than that will require the Democratic Party to actually campaign against the Republican party by de-legitimizing it.
